Name construction

A kobold carries three names, in this order: clan name, childhood nickname, personal name. The clan name is each clan's corrupted attempt to echo the name of the great dragon it claims descent from (e.g. Szarax, Kessirik, Vixxorak, Prazzik) — spoken with emphasis, though the distortion betrays how far short of the real thing it falls. The childhood nickname, unlike a dragonborn's, is kept for life and worn with pride no matter how ridiculous; it commemorates an exploit, an accident, or a childhood habit (Rockbiter, Not-Dead, Nestfall, Treasure-Sniffer, Too-Many-Teeth, Great-Brave — rarely without irony). The personal name is very short, one or two syllables, sometimes doubled like a child's word (Kipik, Snix, Zok-Zok). Dominant consonants: S, Z, K, X, with hissing doublings (ss, zz, xx); vowels favor i, then a and o; syllable doubling adds a childlike touch. Male names end on a hard consonant (-ik, -ix, -ok, -zz); female names end on a vowel (-si, -sa, -xi). Note: the dragon names used here for clans are placeholders and will need further worldbuilding work.
