Abilities
Ambush
On the first round of combat, if the environment allows the creature to hide, the target must succeed on a Wisdom check (DC [15 + Dexterity modifier]) or be Surprised. If it successfully attacks a surprised target, the creature deals +1d6 damage and any creature with lower Strength than its own is Knocked Prone. The creature gains a +5 bonus to all Stealth checks and to Initiative.
Interchangeable
As long as the creature and its allies outnumber the target, they take turns dodging its attacks and gain a +5 bonus to Defense. If several similar creatures are adjacent to the PC, the GM has full latitude to assign the damage from an attack to the creature of their choice; the character never knows which one they wounded.
Cold Breath (Limited)
The breath is an area attack affecting all creatures in a 10 m long by 5 m wide cone for a Medium or Large creature (Huge: 20 x 10 m, Colossal: 30 x 15 m). The attack automatically deals [(CR+2) x 1d6] damage (no attack roll needed), for example 6d6 for CR 4. Damage is halved if the victim succeeds on a DC 13 Dexterity check. The creature must wait 1d4 rounds before using its breath again after each use. For simplicity, when the damage exceeds 6d6, each additional d6 is replaced by a +3 bonus. Thus a CR 14 dragon would have a breath dealing [6d6 + 30] damage.
